A Different Youth Sport Experience
Growing up, recreational sports were a central part of my childhood. It was filled with playing with friends and making memories. Kids Play Sports hopes to take the best parts of recreational sports and club-based sports to create a unique experience that is affordable, effective, and fun!
After facilitating and coaching in various recreational programs around the city of St. Louis, I started seeing and feeling pain points and frustrations from nearly all stakeholders: coaches, parents, referees, directors, and the kids. Kids Play Sports aims to remove those pain points to offer the best recreational youth sports experience possible.
Coaching
The head coach of sessions is a paid, experienced coach. Providing a fun, consistent, and well-run experience for the players. Parents are not tasked with an unpaid part-time job that can drain them emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Parent Volunteers
Parents willing to volunteer are still integral, but without having the burden of being “in charge,” parents are freed up to step in for all the fun parts of youth sports! Parents are asked to help with drills, referee, encourage, and manage substitutions, but do not have to plan practice, manage discipline, or handle other head coaching duties.
Practices and Game Schedules
At Kids Play Sports, practices and games are scheduled for the same time on the same day. When you register, you will know when and where your child will be playing. No guessing or waiting for the season schedule to be posted.
Large Group Practice - Small Sided Games
Practices are led by the head coach and assisted by volunteers, allowing large-group practices that are still well run and providing kids opportunities to learn and improve. Games are all “small-sided”; a smaller-than-standard number of players are on the court or field at a time. This allows the players to be more involved and get more touches and opportunities in the game.
Affordability
Because of our league and clinic formats, Kids Play Sports is able to commit to not only a quality experience but an affordable one. “Non-profit” clubs and recreational programs regularly charge upwards of $100, $200, or even $300 for their recreational seasons. Kids Play Sports averages under $90 during regular and early-bird registration periods for 8-week seasons.
Meet “Coach” Robert
Since 2018, I have been a PE teacher in the St. Louis area, helping kids build competency in everything from corn hole to traditional team sports. Since 2021, I've been involved in coaching and organizing recreation sports. I hold coaching licenses with U.S. Soccer and USA Baseball.
